SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- An Oakland man who is accused of attacking an elderly Asian American woman in San Francisco has a history of mental illness, according to community activists.The Anti Police-Terror Project said it's familiar with James Ramsey, a 27-year-old Black man, because it tried helping him access mental health and housing services over the past year. Ramsey is a "disabled resident with a well-documented history of serious mental illnesses and a history of head injuries. This is not the first time Mr. Ramsey has been implicated in an incident of attacking elder members of our community," APTP wrote.APTP said it made several attempts to secure housing and mental health services for Ramsey through government and nonprofit agencies. But he was repeatedly "turned away," the activist group wrote.On Tuesday, Ramsey made his first court appearance after prosecutors charged him with assaulting an 88-year-old Asian woman near Union Square. (KRON) -- One person is dead after a stabbing in San Mateo on Wednesday, the city's police department said. A suspect remains at large. The San Mateo Police Department was called to the 200 block of 37th Avenue at 3:48 p.m. A specific address was not given, and officers went door-to-door across an apartment complex to investigate. The victim was found in an apartment on the 200 block of 36th Avenue. Police believe the victim knew the suspect. SMPD is attempting to find and arrest the suspect. DENVER (KDVR) -- The body of a man who had been missing after a rafting accident in the Colorado River was found on Wednesday, the Eagle County Sheriff's Office said.First responders were called to the Cottonwood Boat Ramp on the Colorado River around 4:00 p.m. on July 23, the sheriff's office said. One person was pulled out of the water and resuscitated.The other man was unable to be rescued and continued down the river. A search was launched, which lasted several days. 2023 is set to be the deadliest year on water "Teams from across the region manned boats and kayaks to scour the banks of the Colorado River. Specialized water rescue teams working alongside scent dog teams aided in additional water search operations.
